I am not a writer. Let’s just start there. If I had to describe myself I would say I’m a traveler, an explorer, a bit shy and an introvert, a dreamer, and a car girl.
Yeahhhh, love this story! Great first post, Chris.
We're doing the opposite of you with the truck/trailer combo vs van--you went big first, then downsized, we're upsizing from the van :) Either way is awesome, if you ask me! Hope to cross paths out there sometime.
Thanks. So I don’t technically follow a lot of blogs or people but I’ve been reading your posts for years now. I remember when you had finally had enough of full time van life and decided to settle down in Bend. That was a good post and not a lot of people would admit to being “over it” and wanting a place to call home for a while. I get it. Thanks for all your thoughtful posts. You inspired me and still do.
Cool that you've stuck around and read my writing even after we landed. Yup, we were dooone at the time! So done.
I've seen the same happen with the multitude of van lifers that I know, but few people are honest about it. Especially if they're making money from the travel: "we love EVERYYYYTHING about van life." HA, total BS...
After almost 7 years of a more rooted existence, both Chelsea and I are fired up to hit the road for some long-term travel in our Airstream! At least a six month trip coming up (trial run), with potential for longer. We shall see. What part of the world are you exploring these days?
We are in Spain right now for another 10 days or so. We are heading to Montenegro and Croatia next. We have spent the last almost 4 months in Ireland, Scotland, Portugal, Austria. a touch down in Germany and now Spain. We can only stay 90 days in the EU so we have to leave. We sold the van after our Corgi died. He kept us close to home as he was getting a bit too old and tired to travel internationally any more.
YES. That's amazing! Spain's is HOT right now according to a buddy who lives in Granada, hope you're up north. We are jooonesing for international travel, but have a 19YO cat who keeps us grounded at the moment. When he's gone (and assuming I've got my Italian citizenship, or even not) we are flying the coop for international destinations.

Btw, are you reading the Substack "Michael and Brent Are Going Places?" One of my favs. Written by a gay couple from Seattle. https://www.brentandmichaelaregoingplaces.com/
I am now following them. I saw a post from them a day or two ago. They seem fun. And yes it’s been hot in Spain. I’m ready to head to the Balkins.
